Climate Emergency and Green Skills in Edinburgh City Region

  • Year: 2021
  • Client: Skills Development Scotland
  • Delivered By: ekosgen

ekosgen undertook a detailed assessment of Edinburgh City Region’s current and future requirement for green skills, looking at their supply in the existing workforce as well as the skills pipeline.

The project involved a comprehensive analysis of the jobs that will change, those at risk, and new positions that will arise through green growth and policy responses to net zero commitments.

Focusing on repurposing skills, upskilling, reskilling the workforce, and skills planning for new entrants and career changers, we consulted extensively with employers, training and education providers, and policymakers to identify gaps, challenges and priorities for action.
We supplied recommendations for maximising both the reach of career opportunities across the region and the fair distribution of the benefits.
