South Hindley is a major residential-led mixed use urban extension to the town of Hindley near Wigan. As an EIA development, comprising up to 2,000 homes alongside a local centre and community infrastructure provision, GC Insight was commissioned to prepare a Health ES chapter. 

Our Role:​

• We prepared the health ES chapter, considering the potential positive and negative health impacts to be generated by the development.
• The scope and approach of the chapter aligned with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment’s (IEMA) Guidance which recognises that wider determinants of health including the economic, physical and social environment can have a significant impact on human health.

Outcome:

A planning application is in progress.
