Creating a World Class DMO for Glasgow City Region

Glasgow City Region commissioned GC Insight to help strengthen their approach to destination management across the region. The Steering Group included leaders from Glasgow City Region, Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Glasgow Life and Glasgow Airport.

Our Role:

·        Prepared a detailed evidence base and assessment of the status and performance of attraction and promotion programmes including Investment Promotion Agency inward investment functions and DMO tourism, convention and promotion functions, as well as other assets including the Glasgow Economic Leadership Group and Glasgow City Region Intelligence Hub.

·        Conducted stakeholder engagement consultations and workshops with a range of organisations involved in attraction and promotion of Glasgow City Region including academic, business sector and public sector leads.

·       Conducted in-depth comparator studies with other global city regions to draw out best practice and success factors that Glasgow can learn from.

·       Developed a framework and action plan with recommendations for the City Region to take forward including strategic, delivery, structural and enabling recommendations

The output will be used to inform Glasgow City Region and its key agencies of the DMO critical success factors and actions to improve the approach to Destination Management that align with their economic, social and international ambitions.
